Morphologic phenotyping with MR microscopy: the visible mouse.

چکیده
A method for rapid morphologic phenotyping is demonstrated by using magnetic resonance microscopy. Whole fixed C57BL/6J mice were imaged at 110-microm isotropic resolution; limited volumes of the intact specimen, at 50-microm isotropic resolution; and isolated organs, at 25-microm isotropic resolution. The three-dimensional imaging technique was applied to uricase knockout mice to demonstrate the method for the evaluation of morphologic phenotype.

Structural correlates of active-staining following magnetic resonance microscopy in the mouse brain
Extensive worldwide efforts are underway to produce knockout mice for each of the ~25,000 mouse genes, which may give new insights into the underlying pathophysiology of neurological disease. Microscopic magnetic resonance imaging (μMRI) is a key method for non-invasive morphological phenotyping, capable of producing high-resolution 3D images of ex-vivo brains, after fixation with an MR contras...
متن کاملComparative SNR for high-throughput mouse embryo MR microscopy.
MR microscopy is being explored as a useful imaging tool to phenotype mouse embryos due to its volume coverage with three-dimensional isotropic resolution. However, the main limitation for mouse embryo MR microscopy is the signal-to-noise ratio. Large numbers of embryos are needed for phenotypic screening, making high throughput essential. Two high-throughput imaging approaches, multi-embryo sh...
متن کاملMorphologic Variation in the Osteopetrotic Op/Op Mouse Skeleton
SUMMARY This study is designed to confirm the changes of various bones in the osteopetrotic op/op mouse. The female adult mouse were sonicated in papain solution. After the complete treatment, the bones (Skull, Mandible, Scapula, Humerus, Radius, Ulna, Hip, Femure, Tibia, Atlas, Axis and 5th Lumbar vertebra) were measured three dimensionally using of high quality scale and low power binocular ...
متن کاملAutomated segmentation of neuroanatomical structures in multispectral MR microscopy of the mouse brain.
We present the automated segmentation of magnetic resonance microscopy (MRM) images of the C57BL/6J mouse brain into 21 neuroanatomical structures, including the ventricular system, corpus callosum, hippocampus, caudate putamen, inferior colliculus, internal capsule, globus pallidus, and substantia nigra. The segmentation algorithm operates on multispectral, three-dimensional (3D) MR data acqui...
متن کاملAutomated segmentation of the actively stained mouse brain using multi-spectral MR microscopy
Magnetic resonance microscopy (MRM) has created new approaches for high-throughput morphological phenotyping of mouse models of diseases. Transgenic and knockout mice serve as a test bed for validating hypotheses that link genotype to the phenotype of diseases, as well as developing and tracking treatments. We describe here a Markov random fields based segmentation of the actively stained mouse...
